Kazakhstan is bounded by the Russia, the Caspian ocean, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan & China. For centuries, Kazakhstan’s vast plains were home only to nomads and they are still literally empty. Most colonies are concentrated in the southeast & the east of the Republic.

South Kazakhstan is a focus of Central Asian history & there are numbers of notable monuments in the region. It is a scenically diverse area where the snow-capped peaks, lakes and glaciers of the Tian Shan range make way to steppe & desert.

The desert is home to the Singing Barkhan – a sand dune 3.2kilometer (2 miles) long, which one, as it crumbles, creates a peculiar singing sound.

Almaty was until very recently the former capital of Kazakhstan & it enjoys a beautiful setting between mountains and plains. It is a city of modern architecture, cool fountains, parks and outstanding mountain views.

If you’re not a fan of endless semi-arid steppe & decomposing industrial towns, Kazakhstan (Kazakstan) can seem bleak, but those who enjoy remoteness, wide open spaces, lunar landscapes, long hypnotic train rides and horse sausage will emphatically be in their element.

From the semi-green forests of Mount Abu to the dry grasslands of the desert, from the dry, deciduous thorn forest of Aravali to the wetlands of Bharatpur, Rajasthan is vast and has an enormously varied vegetation and terrain, some of it, though quite hostile, is home to a surprising number of mammals and birds. Tiger and leopard, as well as many endangered species, find a haven here. Though known as the Desert State, Rajasthan, situated in the northwestern part of India, has a number of exotic palaces with beautiful gardens, fountains, temples and forts constructed and decorated with amazing artistry, including mirrored walls and galleries, painted streets and secret passages and dungeons.

One of the most magnificent is Kuchaman Fort, which sits on top of a steep hill 300 metres high, in the Nagaur district, along what was once part of the Central Asian trade route. A symbol of Rajasthan’s glorious history, it was built by the Gujjar Pratihara dynasty as far back as 760AD. Once the site of great battles, Kuchaman Fort was known for being impregnable: its five gates are arranged in such a way that is impossible to enter without being attacked from every direction. The Fort is now a 34-room hotel, where rooms cost from £46 per night.

Jaisalmer, another former princely state, is a desert city nestling in the foothills of Trikuta, boasting colossal forts, palaces and havelis (private residences, often converted into mi-range or luxury hotels). Its 12th-century citadel, rising like a golden sandcastle from the desert, is a masterpiece of the stonecarver’s art. The town, though no longer an isolated place but rimmed with hotels and crammed with tourists, is also well worth a visit.

For a different experience in Rajasthan, step aboard the Palace on Wheels, formerly the personal railway coaches of the rulers of the princely states of Gujrat and Rajputana. For one glorious week, you can recapture the pomp and ceremony of the royal past on one of the most luxurious trains in the world. A journey on the Palace on Wheels takes you to the pink state capital, Jaipur, the golden citadel of Jaisalmer, the blue city of Jodhpur, the National Park Ramthambhor, the nine-storey Tower of Victory of Chittorgarh (built 1440 AD to celebrate the Maharana’s victory over his rival), the romantic city of lakes. Udaipur, the bird sanctuary at Bharatpur and the Mughal capital, Agra.

It’s not all history in Rajasthan. If you want to get out and about, there are water sports, horse, camel and other safaris, bird-watching trips, trekking, ballooning and parasailing adventures to tempt you.

Rajasthan has the best reputation for law and order of any state in India and is safe and secure to travel in, as well as being easily accessible by air, train and road from Delhi (260 km away), Agra and Mumbai.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder convertible offers the thrill of driving a classy sports car, even though it sacrifices some of its handling potential to providing an enhanced open-air driving experience.

There are two models available for the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, The GS and the GT. A stainless steel exhaust tip, automatic climate control, a more powerful engine and a superior drive train are only a few benefits of the GT over the GS.

Although the V-6 engine provides for a quieter and smoother ride, it is not the best choice in terms of fuel consumption, despite the 98 horsepower and 96 pound-feet of torque which it gained over the previous, four-cylinder engine. The six-speed transmission can be either set to shift automatically, or allow for a manual handling of the gears. The brakes are equipped with ventilated disks for the front and solid disks for the back of the car, ensuring a stopping that is fast and stable at the same time.

The GT provides 260 horse power out of its 3.8 liter V6 engine, unlike its “younger brother”, the GS, that displays a 4 cylinder 2.4 liter-engine, with a maximum output of 168 horse power. No matter what model you choose, there are certain features every Eclypse comes with as a standard: a 650-watt 6 disc CD MP3 stereo system, audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, front and side airbags, air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, and even a theft immobilizer. The tendency to cut corners during turns, especially at high speeds is corrected by the wide tires, however this car remains highly sensitive to vibration, especially caused by bumps in the road.

The inside of the car is somewhat disappointing because of the back seats, which occupy precious space which would have found a better use as extra trunk space. However, it makes up for this inconvenient through its state-of-the-art audio and air conditioning systems. The glove box and map pockets are very limited, and the trunk is also quite small. Visibility is very good in front, but leaves a lot to be desired as far as the sides and rear are concerned. Lowering the top will transform the coupe intro a convertible in just 20 seconds, without leaving a plastic cover to take up space in the trunk.

Although it is not certain yet, it appears that the base model, the Spyder GS will cost around $25.400, whereas the basic GT model will be about $28.300. Whether this model will be as popular and as appreciated as the previous 2005 Eclypse, or it will be just “another brick in the wall”, that is up to the customers. All in all, this car is intended to offer a great open air driving experience and the drawbacks do not really affect this.
